Nitro’s police chief said dozens of cats were discovered at a home where a man was found dead of apparently natural causes. Police Chief Chris Fleming said humane officers removed 60 to 70 cats from the house on Monday night on Bailes Drive. Some of the cats were dead, some were in poor condition and some were healthy. The cats were taken to local shelters. Fleming said it appeared the body had been there for an extended period of time and that the man died of natural causes. The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
