As counties continue to face bus driver shortages, one bill close to passage is aimed at helping fill some of the gaps. House Bill 2346 would allow retired bus drivers in counties of critical need to work the 180-day school calendar rather than the 140 days they are allowed now. Del. Christopher Toney, R-Raleigh, who is a bus driver himself, is the lead sponsor of this bill.
