Snowshoe Mountain in Pocahontas County has extended its ski season. The resort announced this week that it will remain open until April 2. Snowshoe received a recent shot of winter weather and has more than a foot of natural snow with extended periods of cold that have allowed its snowmaking system to beef up the resort’s snowpack. The resort had originally planned to close its ski season March 26. Timberline Mountain in Tucker County said on its website that it will be open during the weekdays and into the weekend of March 18. Operational status for March 20 and beyond is yet to be determined. The ski areas at Canaan Valley in Tucker County and Winterplace in Raleigh County have closed for the season.
