Dozens of projects around West Virginia will further transportation alternatives and expand outdoor recreation opportunities. $9.7 million in grant money will be distributed among 22 counties through the West Virginia Transportation Alternatives and Recreational Trails Program. Kanawha County is set to receive $100,000 for the rejuvenation of the streetscape of along Second Avenue in Nitro while Putnam County will get $325,000 to extend sidewalks along Laurel Avenue in Poca. The program is funded by the Federal Highway Administration and managed by the West Virginia Department of Transportation. Other projects are planned in Fayette, Boone, Logan, and Nicholas Counties.
