A Charleston chef has been named a finalist in the 2023 James Beard Awards. Chef Paul Smith, of 1010 Bridge, was named a finalist for Best Chef in the Southeast by the James Beard Foundation. Smith was named a semifinalist for the award in January alongside fellow Charleston chef Ramin Mirzakhani. The annual James Beard Awards recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists behind America’s food scene, and a winners gala will be held June 5, in Chicago.
