More than 9,000 customers were still without power Monday in Eastern Kentucky and parts of West Virginia after strong winds swept through the region over the weekend. Restoration was completed Monday night for many areas of West Virginia, according to a news release from Appalachia Power. The most heavily-damaged areas of Boone, Logan and Mingo counties are expected to have service restored by Tuesday night.
