The case of two parents accused of child neglect after a 2-year-old was found unresponsive is heading to a grand jury in Jackson County. Lylee and Michael Gillenwater were charged last week with child neglect resulting in injury after their 2-year-old boy was found malnourished and dehydrated at an apartment in Ripley.
Deputies said they were called to an apartment on Meadow Lark Lane in Ripley and found the child to be suffering from renal failure due to severe malnutrition and dehydration. Investigators believe the boy and his brother were left unattended in the room for days at a time. Jackson County Magistrate Laura Pursley found probable cause this week for the Gillenwaters’ cases to head to a grand jury.
