Firefighters battled a house fire in Charleston early Thursday morning. Dispatchers said the call came in the 1600 block of Red Oak Street around 1:30 a.m. Commander May Nicholson said the fire likely started in the basement and spread up the walls to the second floor. Nicholson said he believes the fire was suspicious. The house was boarded up and had no power running into it.
