Dr. Sherri Young is being appointed as the new Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Health. She served for years as the executive officer of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. Governor Justice also appointed Dr. Cynthia Persily as the new Secretary of Human Services and Michael Caruso as the Secretary of Health Facilities. Earlier this year the legislature voted to divide DHHR into three distinct agencies. Lawmakers decided the agency was too large and had too many employees for just one cabinet secretary to run efficiently.
