K9 Officer helps track a suspect and lead to an arrest

Kanawha County Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to a “shots fired” call last Saturday around Doc Bailey Road and Kelly Road in Cross Lanes. Deputies learned the victim of an ATV theft found the ATV, but the suspect shot at him when he tried to retrieve it. Sergeant J.A. Ratliff of Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office deployed his Bloodhound K-9 partner “Bailee” to the area of the woods where the suspect fled and she picked up his scent and tracked him to a home in the 5200 block of Kelly Road. Bailee led her handler to the Brian Walker, who was hiding under a shed. He was arrested and faces a theft charge.
