Commissioner Kent Carper is out of the hospital

Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper has been released from CAMC General Hospital Saturday as he recovers from open-heart surgery. Carper underwent quadruple bypass surgery on May 18 after suffering a stroke, according to a spokesperson. Carper’s recovery comes amid a criminal investigation stemming from a 911 call in which a woman at Daniel Boone Park told emergency dispatchers a man had exposed himself to her. A request for a special prosecutor in the case has been granted after the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office cited a conflict of interest.
