Sentencing is set for the man accused of killing a woman and hiding her body in a freezer

Samual May admitted to killing Cynthia Mudd of Cross Lanes and hiding her body in a freezer, and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Monday. He couldn’t explain exactly what happened because he “blacked out,” according to court records. Her body was found in a freezer in August 2022. Other charges against May were dismissed. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 2 and the state is recommending a 40-year prison sentence.
