A man was arrested after leading police on a high-speed pursuit through South Charleston this week. It started when an officer attempted a traffic stop near the Kanawha Turnpike and Pence Street. The complaint said when the officer activated his lights, the vehicle continued driving east on the Kanawha Turnpike and ran red lights at the Kanawha Turnpike and Montrose Drive intersection and at Riverwalk Plaza. The chase went from South Charleston onto I-64 East and later onto I-77 North, reaching speeds of 130 mph. The vehicle eventually stopped after taking the Tuppers Creek exit off of I-77. Brandon Cochran of Poca didn’t cooperate during the arrest, but was eventually taken into custody and faces several charges.
