The Charleston Sternwheel Regatta returned in 20220 after more than a decade-long hiatus. The kids zone opens today at noon at Magic Island, and the carnival opens at 1 pm at Haddad Riverfront Park. Jo Dee Messina headlines the concert tonight at 8 pm. The event wraps up on the 4th of July and will include a Battle of the Bands, hot dog eating contest, a performance by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and fireworks at 9:30 pm. Many city employees are involved in making the event a success, and that includes trash workers, the Street Department, police, fire and EMS.
