New West Virginia food packaging facility will create jobs

State leadership announced that a Berkeley County will be home to a state-of-the-art food packaging facility, marking a $50 million investment projected to generate 600 jobs. It’s a joint venture between Klarpet of Turkey and Triton International Enterprises and it will focus on sustainability and environment-friendly food. A news release from Gov. Jim Justice’s Office said $20 million in capital has been allocated for the first year and a total of $50 million in investments is targeted for year three of the project. Company officials said Treplar is working to create new food packaging material that is compostable.
