Former CAMC employees file lawsuit over 2021 COVID mandate

Charleston Area Medical Center is facing a lawsuit from six former employees over firings after COVID-19 vaccine religious exemptions were allegedly denied. According to a news release from Scott Evans Law PLLC, representing the former employees, the six assert that they were denied religious exemptions for the vaccine and wrongfully discharged from employment. A letter from CAMC to hospital staff and applicants dated Oct. 8, 2021,said all CAMC employees and clinical team members would have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and that medical or religious exemption requests would need to be approved. The lawsuit is pending.
