City of Huntington analyzes water supplies considering Ohio train derailment

The city of Huntington’s Sanitary Board is set to consider a permit application to treat wastewater from around the East Palestine train derailment in Ohio and verify it is clean enough to be discharged into the Ohio River. The process performed in Huntington is entirely separate from the city’s drinking water supplies. The treatment in Huntington would be a third step in the treatment process following two other sites. The water Huntington would be receiving and treating would have already been treated to a non-hazardous level.
