Tuesday marked 53 years since a Southern Airways plane carrying 75 Marshall University football players, staff and boosters crashed while trying to land in West Virginia. The university held its annual Memorial Fountain ceremony yesterday to honor those lost in what remains one of the country’s worst air tragedies in history. Speakers remarked how the community came together after the Nov. 14, 1970 tragedy, and how the memories still resonate.
