Recent UC football assistant coach faces charges after trying to break into an ATM

A man with football connections to Marshall University, the University of Charleston and the Canadian Football League was arrested in Charleston after police said he broke into an ATM. Alexander Bazzie of Waldorf, Maryland, is charged with entry of a building over than a dwelling, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Bazzie used a pickax and a tire iron to pry open the ATM in the drive-thru of the United Bank in the 4900 block of MacCorkle Avenue SE in Kanawha County. Bazzie was able to pry open the exterior of the ATM and tried to break into the safe but was unsuccessful. Bazzie was a lineman for Marshall from 2009-12 and played five seasons in the CFL from 2016-21. Bazzie was listed as a defensive line coach on the University of Charleston’s website for the 2022-23 season.
