An elementary school in Kanawha County had to be evacuated Tuesday due to a trash can fire. It happened at Mary C. Snow Elementary just after 1 p.m., according to Metro 911. Firefighters said a trash can was reportedly on fire inside the school, which set the fire alarms off and forced students and staff to exit the building. A spokesperson for Kanawha County Schools said the small fire was in a room not occupied by students at the time. Crews were able to quickly get the fire out.
