Mail delivery changes are on hold until 2025

Plans to change the United State Postal Service’s mail delivery network have been put on hold. U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin said in a news release that the USPS has paused plans to change its mail delivery network until Jan. 1, 2025. The issue stems from USPS plans to modernize its agency, which late last year called for the possible consolidation of a facility in South Charleston. Manchin was one of several bipartisan lawmakers who expressed concern over recent changes to the network that he said has already had an effect on mail delivery in West Virginia. U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has said the network changes would save the agency up to $177 million.
