Failed pressure test on Mountain Valley Pipeline

Federal regulators “should be on notice” about a pressure test failure on the Mountain Valley Pipeline earlier this month. On May 1, a section of pipe burst during hydrostatic testing at Bent Mountain, Virginia, releasing municipal water and sediment into streams and on nearby properties. The burst pipe was reported to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality by a local landowner, but it took several days for both state and federal regulators and the pipeline’s builder, to publicly address the incident.
