The annual Tour de Coal boat launch is set for Saturday, June 15th. An estimated 2,000 paddlers will shove off from Meadowood Park starting at 8 a.m. and they’ll paddle for fourteen miles from Tornado to St. Albans along the Coal River. The Coal River Group said in a news release that the event has become the largest flatwater kayak event in country. Paddlers looking to participate in the event will be required to register online or complete a physical registration form at the Coal River Headquarters in Meadowood Park.
