FEMA warns of fraud during storm recovery efforts

Federal officials are warning West Virginians of fraud practices that typically coincide with disaster relief efforts. The Federal Emergency Management Agency provided a list of common post-disaster fraud practices to look out for, including phony government officials, unlicensed or uninsured contractors, fake offers for state or federal aid, and fraudulent housing inspectors. Any suspicious activity may be verified by calling FEMA personnel from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 800-621-3362.
