A Charleston man died and a teenager was hospitalized in a utility task vehicle crash early Saturday. Troopers responded to a single UTV wreck at about 1:30 a.m. along Walker Ridge Road near Walton. When troopers arrived at the scene, the driver, 27-year old Jacob Beckner was declared dead from injuries sustained in the crash, according to a statement from West Virginia State Police. A 17-year-old passenger was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment. Troopers determined that the UTV was traveling east before going off the roadway, flipping sideways and colliding with a tree. The investigation is ongoing.
