Elkins Police force mourns the loss of an officer

A member of the police force in Elkins has passed away. A statement from Elkins police on Facebook said Patrolman First Class Ramon Goux (Go) was found with an apparent gunshot wound off of U.S. 33 east of Elkins, and the investigation revealed he took his own life. A witness told officers who arrived at the scene at U.S. 33 near Eagles Nest Road, that it appeared the window of the vehicle had been shot out. The person who died of a gunshot wound was later identified as Officer Goux. The Elkins Police Chief, T.C. Bennett, sent condolences to Goux’s family and the community.
