Rainbow crosswalk is vandalized during Pride Month in Huntington

Police cited a driver responsible for vandalizing a rainbow crosswalk painted by Huntington Pride. A statement released Monday by the city said a 21-year-old Huntington man has been cited for “squealing tires” along the public art installation on June 12. The incident gained traction on social media after a pickup truck was caught on camera peeling out and leaving tire marks on the crosswalk. The nonprofit organization behind the mural raised funds to pay for supplies and hire artists to complete the project, located at the intersection of Tenth Street and Fourth Avenue. Eyewitness News reported the city will coordinate with Huntington Pride regarding touch-ups for the art installation.
