Kanawha County deputies say the man who died in a car accident in Eastern Kanawha County Monday afternoon was 59-year old David McCallister of Belle. The crash happened on Route 61, between Handley and Montgomery. Deputies said McCallister was driving his car eastbound when he crossed the center line and then hit the guardrail. The car then went back into the eastbound lane, crossed the center line again and then crashed into an SUV. McCallister died at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive. Deputies said they are still investigating the circumstances that caused the crash, but have not ruled out a possible medical episode.
