The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission Board unanimously approved changes to baseball postseason format beginning in 2025, according to the commission. The approved changes eliminates sectional play, instead placing teams in a regional brackets with each region divided into two double-elimination brackets. Winners of each bracket will advance to a best-of-three series with the winner of each series securing a spot in the state tournament. According to the WVSSAC, coaches will vote to determine the seeds of each regional bracket. All postseason games will be held at the higher-seeded team’s field and will host both the first and third games in the best-of-three series.
