Eyewitness News reports that West Virginia Turnpike users will soon be able to use credit cards to pay tolls, which are scheduled to increase by 5% next year. The news came from West Virginia Parkways Authority executive director Jeff Miller during Tuesday’s interim meetings in Charleston. Booth operators will utilize handheld machines that give drivers the option to tap, insert or swipe a credit card. The Parkways Authority will incur processing fees. While convenient, Miller noted credit cards are slower than using cash or electronic toll collection. Miller encouraged turnpike users to utilize an E-Z Pass.
