Boating season ends early at Summersville Lake

Summersville Lake attracts nearly one million visitors annually, according to the Summersville Convention and Visitors Bureau, but this year boaters had their plans cut short. Saturday was the last day for people to pick up their boats due to the low water levels in the lake caused by extreme drought conditions. The Army Corps of Engineers is draining water from the lake to keep waters moving downstream. Eyewitness News said boaters were sad to see their summer cut short, but they’re counting down the days to next year.
