Utility crews from across the country have come east to help restore power after strong winds and rain knocked out power on Friday. In West Virginia, more than 25,000 Appalachian Power customers were still without service as Monday morning. Locally, more than 2,100 customers in Wayne County were without service, 1,000 in Raleigh, 700 in Cabell and 500 in Clay. Eyewitness News said a majority of the outages were reported in Mercer County where more than 15,700 customers did not have service. Problems are worse in Kentucky, Eastern Tennessee, and North Carolina, and there are fifty thousand extra utility workers from around the US helping to bring electricty back to the area.
