The Cabell County Board of Education said Wednesday it has issued back payments for lost funding to the county’s libraries and parks following changes to its excess levy. Three months after board members voted to restore full funding for Cabell County Public Library and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District in its excess levy proposal, the school district said it has returned any lost funding during a dispute over the levy. The move comes after the county board of education voted to cut back on funding for parks and libraries in 2023. Cabell County Superintendent Tim Hardesty said in a news release that he hopes the community will reconsider its support for the levy in the upcoming election now that full funding has been restored.
