A man who was accused of going on a stabbing spree in Kanawha County in 2023 was found dead in his jail cell Wednesday. 38-year old Percy Woody was found unresponsive by staff performing routine checks at South Central Regional Jail. Staff members immediately attempted life-saving measures that were unsuccessful. Woody was being held on charges connected to the stabbing of four people in and around a Charleston McDonalds in December 2023 while he awaited trial. He was charged with four counts of malicious wounding and one count of obstruction. An inestigation into his death is underway.
