Gov. Jim Justice delivered a $500,000 check to the Bob Burdette Center in Charleston this week. The Bob Burdette Center is planning to expand its afterschool program with a two-year pilot initiative to provide students from disadvantaged areas with one-on-one math and reading tutoring access with certified teachers, according to a statement from the Office of the Governor. The program will serve Mary C. Snow Elementary School and Edgewood Elementary School, both located in Charleston’s west side.
