Chef Paul Smith has released plans for a food service training program. Smith is the state’s first James Beard Award winner, and launched Prepped to Serve Appalachia, a three-month program designed to fast-track eligible West Virginians to employment in the food service industry. Those with a passion for the culinary arts must have an annual household income at or below 250% of the federal poverty level. Applications may be submitted online or in person at the East End Clinic, located at 1520 Washington Street East in Charleston. The program will help 40 West Virginians per year navigate training at the West Virginia Health Right Kitchen prior to on-the-job placement, using a $250,000 grant through WorkForce West Virginia. .There’s more at https://wvhealthright.org/prepped-to-serve-appalachia
