West VA Foundation steps up efforts for opioid settlement money

The West Virginia First Foundation has now stepped-up efforts to get opioid settlement money into the community after Spotlight on America found the state was lagging behind other states.The foundation just completed phase one of its first application process for grants which is going through an expedited review process.The executive director said that they got a total of 174 applications, the majority requesting to provide youth prevention services.Those applications will go into phase two of their process where they’ll be scored by a panel of experts in the field and recommendations will be made to the board to vote on who gets the money and how much.
