Florida man arrested with 748 scammed gift cards in his car

A Florida man has pleaded guilty after he was found in West Virginia with hundreds of gift cards that prosecutors said he would use to scam victims out of nearly $400,000. Yasmany Roque Cruz, 34, of Ft. Lauderdale, pleaded guilty to access device fraud in a case that stems from a traffic stop in Ohio County, W.Va, when deputies found 748 gift cards in Cruz’s vehicle, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia. Cruz faces up to 10 years in prison during sentencing by a federal district court judge.
