New data and technology center is coming to Huntington

A new data center will take over the former Appalachian Power building in Huntington. Alpha Technologies plans to invest about $10 million to set up headquarters at a 60,000 square-foot structure at 1226 Sixth Avenue, according to a news release from Huntington Mayor Steve Williams’ Office. The move will expand the company’s operations established in South Charleston that hosts data services for governments, healthcare providers, businesses and educational institutions. The news release said the move will connect homes and businesses with high-speed fiber and provide customers with a choice of internet service providers. Construction will begin early next year and employ about 30 people.
