Early voter turnout was strong in West Virginia

More than 300,000 early votes were cast in West Virginia ahead of Election Day.
Eyewitness News said the approximately 310,412 votes cast early in the Mountain State are down from the 2020 general election when nearly 400,000 residents cast their ballots early. Registered Republicans cast 143,549 of the ballots, followed by 91,976 Democrats and there were more than 60,000 unaffiliated voters, according to totals provided from the West Virginia secretary of state’s office. Putnam County saw one of the higher early turnouts with roughly 33% of registered voters casting early votes. Cabell County had roughly 29% of voter turnout followed by roughly 27% in Kanawha County.
