EPA issues Code Orange for Kanawha County due to smoke from wildfire

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange alert for Kanawha County due to wildfire smoke.The alert was issued to warn sensitive groups that smoke in the air could affect breathing and to use caution when going outside, according to the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. The sensitive groups listed include children, the elderly, people with heart diseases, asthma, COPD, emphysema, lung cancer and other sensitivities. They advised staying indoors until the wildfire smoke dissipates but if you must go out wear an N-95 mask to block the fine particulate matter in the smoke from your lungs
