Former WVU coach faces a domestic battery charge

A former West Virginia University defensive coordinator was booked Saturday morning on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. Jordan Lesley was booked in North Central Regional Jail on the charges but further details were not provided, according to reporting from MetroNews. He was let go by the university’s football program on Oct. 29. Lesley was hired in 2019 as a defensive line coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2021. Jeff Koonz took over the role from Lesley ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats. Lesley posted a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He will be arraigned in Monongalia County at a later date.
