An Ohio waterway is designated as a Scenic River

Raccoon Creek, which flows through several counties in southeastern Ohio, has become the latest state recognized scenic river. Gov. Mike DeWine designated 111.9 miles of the waterway as a part of the department of natural resource’s Ohio Scenic River Program with Racoon Creek becoming the 16th waterway in the state and the first in southeastern Ohio to be designated. The designation will create additional cooperation between local governments and communities to protect the waterway. Eyewitness News said, with the designation of Racoon Creek, there are now 942 miles of waterways in Ohio that are protected through the state’s scenic river system.
