Birch River Man arrested for shooting person a Lumber 84

A Birch River man was arrested for shooting another person at a building supply store in Gassaway Saturday afternoon, according to the Braxton County Sheriff’s Office. A press release said deputies along with West Virginia State Police responded to the Lumber 84 on State Street around 3:50 Saturday for the shooting. Charles Workman was apparently arguing with a cashier. Another man confronted Workman, being being pushed down by Workman. Deputies said the suspect pulled a Glock 10mm and fired one round into the other man’s back.The person shot drove himself to a nearby hospital. Workman was charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding. He’s held in central regional jail awaiting arraignment.
