Huntington City Council candidates keep their seats after the election is challenged

The Huntington City Council has decided against disqualifying candidates for representation of two districts after election results were challenged. The city had recently certified election results that placed Jason Arthur and Stacy Jo Holley on the council representing District 1 and 9 but political adversaries opposed those results, claiming the pair were late in submitting campaign finance reports. A special call of the council brought officials into executive session where it was determined Arthur and Holley were not advised of delinquencies and remained on ballots prior to 2024’s general election. Eyewitness News said the council determined Arthur had filed reports by Oct. 31 and Holley submitted paperwork the next day. Sasha Chapman and Carl Eastham, the candidates who had filed the challenges, must now go to circuit court should they elect to further pursue the issue.
