A man was found dead inside a burning vehicle Monday in Monongalia County. It happened near River Road and Lower Hildebrand Road, according to deputies. They said witnesses observed a truck in a ditch and on fire. A news release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the vehicle fully engulfed when they arrived. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire when they found the man’s body inside. The body was sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification. The cause of the accident is unknown, according to Eyewitness News, but the investigation is continuing.
