The West Virginia DEP has suspended the mining permit for Bluestone Coal Corporation’s Poca surfface mine. A news release said the Wyoming County mine had it’s license suspended over thirteen violation orders and sixteen cessation orders issued by the DEP in the past year, including failures in reclamation, sediment and runoff control, and unlawfully dumping dirt and rock into an ephemeral stream. Bluestone Coal Corporation will have between Jan. 29 and March 7 to appeal, depending on each violation’s deadline. The mine is operated by the Justice family.
