Drivers beware, tolling agencies across the country warn of scam

The West Virginia Parkways Authority is warning E-ZPass holders of a scam targeting tolling agencies nationwide. The text message scam claims to be “E-ZPass Toll Services” and includes a link to pay an alleged outstanding toll balance to avoid a late fee, according to a news release from the West Virginia Parkways Authority. The department urges those who have received the text to delete it and to avoid following any link included in the message. The FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center has received over 2,000 reports of similar text scams from toll collection services across several states.
