Adoptive mother testifies and denies mistreatment of children

Jeanne Whitefeather and Donald Lantz each face more than a dozen felony counts of that include forced labor, civil rights violations, human trafficking and gross child neglect. The state rested its case this week after testimony from investigators and the children involved. Each recalled stories of mistreatment and neglect, which the defense denies. Jeanne Whitefeather was called to the stand and said the children were never locked in a classroom and that they could come and go as they pleased. She also denied using pepper spray or dog repellant on the children. Eyewitness News said Whitefeather also denied calling her children racist names despite three of the children’s testimony to the contrary. When looking at pictures of the shed where the children were reportedly locked inside, Whitefeather referred to it as a teenage hangout. The trial continues today.
