Kanawha County Schools spoke out Wednesday after it was the only school district in the state to not close or offer remote learning because of the bitter cold. The school district said in a social media post that schools can be a source of warmth with hot meals for students who may not have them at home. Students who were absent Wednesday due to their bus not running will be counted as an excused absence.
